We have a great opportunity for an experienced Pre-Press Operator to join a reputable printing organisation located in Craigieburn.

What’s on offer?

  • Craigieburn location
  • $40 Per hour
  • Monday to Friday – Rotating between dayshift 7am-3pm and afternoon shift 3pm-11pm
  • Ongoing casual assignment

The prepress department plays a key role in preparing all printing parts and components before the actual print process begins. The successful candidate will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining printing components using manual tools and chemical wash systems, including acid solutions. This role requires strict attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and working in a controlled environment with full personal protective equipment (PPE).

Duties will include, although not limited to:

  • Cleaning of metal and printing components prior to production
  • Manual scraping and chemical removal of inks and residues
  • Operating acid wash stations safely and efficiently
  • Wearing full body protective PPE, including gloves, face shield, boots, and overalls
  • Handling and storing chemical substances safely
  • Following detailed cleaning procedures and work instructions
  • Working in a temperature-controlled, high-security environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods during cleaning processes
  • Manual handling of medium-weight printing parts
  • Reporting worn or damaged parts to supervisors
  • Conducting routine checks on cleaning equipment
  • Adhering to all OHS procedures and chemical handling protocols
  • Working within strict quality assurance guidelines
  • Documenting cleaning activities and part inspections
  • Collaborating with prepress and production teams
  • High level of attention to detail and cleanliness standards
  • Ability to follow directions precisely and consistently
  • Operating an industrial washing machine
  • Setting up printing units for production lines
  • Basic troubleshooting of equipment
  • Moving equipment within the production area
  • Visual quality inspection

Successful candidates must possess the following:

  • Have a clear police record
  • Previous printing / mechanical or manufacturing experience highly regarded
  • Mechanically minded and able to work under minimal supervision
  • Must be physically fit and comfortable with physical tasks
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work day and afternoon shifts
  • Be able to complete a medical check including drug and alcohol screening
  • Be able to complete a detailed background check
  • Have current and valid work rights to be employed in Australia
