The Client
Our client is a well-established values led organisation operating within the aged care and community services sector.

With a large multi-site workforce and a strong focus on governance and employee experience they are seeking an experienced Workforce Compliance and Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations and workforce compliance across the organisation.

About the Role
This is a senior leadership opportunity suited to a seasoned payroll professional who enjoys working in complex multi award environments and partnering with executives to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Head of Finance and leading a specialist payroll team you will be accountable for the delivery of accurate compliant and timely payroll services for a diverse workforce.

You will play a pivotal role in payroll governance risk management systems optimisation and stakeholder engagement contributing directly to workforce planning and organisational strategy.

Key responsibilities include

  • End to end payroll delivery across weekly fortnightly and monthly cycles
  • Interpretation and application of multiple Awards and industrial instruments including Aged Care SCHADS and Nurses Awards
  • Ensuring compliance with Fair Work legislation STP superannuation payroll tax WorkCover and privacy obligations
  • Ownership of year end payroll processes audits and statutory reporting
  • Leadership of payroll systems optimisation automation and digital transformation initiatives
  • Provision of payroll insights and workforce reporting to support executive decision making
  • Building strong partnerships with Finance People and Culture frontline leaders and external providers
  • Leading mentoring and developing a high performing payroll function

About You
You are a confident and credible payroll leader with strong technical expertise and a service-oriented mindset. You operate comfortably at both a strategic and operational level and are passionate about improving systems compliance and employee experience.

You will have / be:

  • 5 plus years’ experience managing payroll for one thousand plus employees in a complex multi award environment
  • Experience leading payroll system upgrades integrations or transformations
  • Demonstrated expertise in Award and Enterprise Agreement interpretation
  • Strong analytical capability including advanced Excel and payroll data analysis
  • Proven people leadership skills with a collaborative and inclusive style
  • Experience within aged care health community or not for profit sectors
  • Exposure to salary packaging novated leasing and complex remuneration frameworks
  • Professional accreditation with APA TAPS CPA CA or similar – desirable
